The other dwarfs

Meet Disney’s seven other dwarfs: Baldy, Burpy, Puffy, Snoopy, Nifty, Thrifty, and Awful.

Before the 1937 Disney film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, the seven dwarfs did not have individual names. (Side note: they were also named in a 1912 play, but those names were completely different.) Walt Disney wanted them to have distinct personalities with names to match, so a list of about fifty potential candidates was compiled.

You can read the full list of forty-seven dwarfs at the link below. It includes names like Jaunty, Soulful, Flabby, and Gabby. Quite a few of the names appear in other cartoons – not just Snoopy, but Daffy and Scrappy too. I’m sure that’s just a coincidence.
